PETA Circus Comes to Britney Spears' Town

Britney Spears has done it again...at least as far as PETA is concerned.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals were none too pleased when she wriggled around the stage with a python at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2001. Now, the critter-friendly crew has taken issue with the pop star's use of pachyderm costars in her latest video, "Circus."

"We're not takin' this sitting down," a PETA blogger writes. "[Britney] of all people should be able to relate to the horror that captive animals go through when they're used for entertainment. Except Britney chooses to perform and the lifestyle just comes with it."

No comment yet from ringmaster Spears—or, for that matter, her elephant buddies—on the whole "Circus" experience.

But fans who want to sit up close should expect to pay dearly to attend since it appears Brit and her handlers are blissfully unaware that the country is currently in the midst of a major recession. The top prices for "special" two-ticket packages for her Los Angeles and Anaheim shows are $349.50 and $549.50, plus service charges. For that much money, we think Brit should also also come to your house, wash your car and and cook dinner before the show, but that's just us.

Britney Spears loves her young sons, Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2, but she’s stressing because they already have potty mouths!

“They’re starting to learn words like ‘stupid’ and Preston says the F-word now sometimes,” the Mother of the Year told Rolling Stone magazine in an interview being published in its Dec. 10 issue, US Weekly magazine reports.

Pop star Britney Spears has spoken candidly for the first time about her bitter split with former boyfriend Justin Timberlake in 2002.

The singer has revealed all in a forthcoming TV documentary Britney: For The Record, reports mirro.co.uk.

"With Justin, he was part of the magnitude of what I had become. So when he was gone I was like, 'What am I supposed to do with myself?' When it ended I felt so alone. I didn't really want to think about the reality of it. I never faced it - I just ran," she said.

"One More Time" for troubled diva Britney Spears?

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A year ago, Britney Spears was taking court-ordered drug and alcohol tests, had fired her managers, was losing custody of her kids, and some journalists were preparing her obituary.

This week, she was caring for her children like any mother would when she rushed 2-year-old Jayden James to a hospital after a bad reaction to something he ate. As for her career, only one week ago she was on stage performing with Madonna and on the brink of an extraordinary musical comeback.

Industry watchers wonder whether Spears, 26, can win back the young, fickle fans now accustomed to watching her fall apart, or if she can stage a comeback like pop diva Mariah Carey. She spent several years in a slump before rebounding to charttopper status with 2005 album "The Emancipation of Mimi."

"You can only have so many second chances and this is definitely one of those now or never moments," said Ellen Carpenter, a senior editor at Spin magazine.

Ten years after she burst onto the world stage as a perky 17-year-old and scored hit songs including "... Baby One More Time," Spears seems to have pulled her life and career out of the toilet with a hit single, a new album due out in December, a tell-all documentary and talk of her first tour since 2004.

Spears' first single "Womanizer," off her Dec 2. album "Circus," was a good omen. It leapt to the top of Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart in October and went to No.1 on iTunes charts in Canada, France, Spain and Sweden.

But in an era of falling record sales, the big money in the music industry is made through live shows. Spears, who has done only a handful of live performances since 2005, is expected to launch a world tour early next year.

"Nothing in this economic environment is a slam dunk," said Gary Bongiovanni, editor of concert magazine Pollstar.

"When an artist stays off the scene for a couple of years, it is impossible to tell how much that audience has gravitated elsewhere until you put tickets on sale," Bongiovanni said.

Spears made headlines for all the wrong reasons in 2007 and early 2008 -- shaving her head, partying without panties, two hospitalizations for psychiatric checks, losing custody of her sons and giving a laughable performance at an MTV Awards show.

As the sexy young pop star who sold more than 60 million records in her heyday gave way to an erratic, disheveled divorcee, her musical and personal obituary was being written.

"Last year, it didn't seem like she would ever come out of it. Her falling apart was bigger than anybody, even Michael Jackson. I don't know if anyone in pop music has fallen that low and come back," Carpenter said.

But since February, when Spears' father Jamie took over her business and personal affairs, the singer has reunited with the manager who made her a star, won three MTV Video Music Awards, recorded her sixth studio album and relaunched her Web site.

She will mark the release of "Circus" with a November 30 TV documentary about her darkest days and an appearance, on her 27th birthday, on U.S. TV chat show "Good Morning America."

Still, Bongiovanni said it may be hard for fans to separate Spears the pop star from Spears the pop problem. "Are they coming to see you because they think a train wreck is about to happen, or because they really like your music?" he said.

The pop star is aiming to post a video clip of a photographer every week making a fool of him or herself on her website .

The featured photographer then becomes the winner of that week's "paparazzie" award.

The Toxic singer, 26, who last year suffered a public breakdown, is often followed by the paparazzi pack.

She has launched a successful comeback however after her troubled year, with a new album out in December while she is also planning an appearance on ITV1's X Factor.

Her website explains in the dedicated section: "Terrorizing Britney has unfortunately become a daily part of the paparazzi's lives. So, we've decided to start calling these maniacs out each week by awarding a PapaRAZZIE to the worst of the worst!

"Each week we will be presenting an award to the most outrageous and ridiculous pap moment and you have to check out what we found this week."

The website also features a clip of Mary Kate Olsen being harassed by a paparazzi, with the caption "Silly photog... little does he know that Mary Kate is paptose intolerant. Just like us."

The singer last month walked free from court after a jury failed to reach a verdict on charges of driving without a valid licence.

The alleged offence occurred at a time when Spears' life appeared to be spiralling out of control, culminating in her admission to a psychiatric hospital.

With her divorce settlement behind her, Britney Spears took time out on Saturday night to do something for the kids, adding star wattage to Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey's fundraiser for Generation Rescue, an organization dedicated to researching autism. "She looked great and seemed really happy," says a partygoer of the Snow Queen Vodka-sponsored shindig at the couple's home in Brentwood. Though she kept close to her assistant Brett and didn't speak to other guests, "She smiled and clapped during the video about autism. She was very into the information and watched a little bit of the dancers from Dancing with the Stars, sneaking out during one of the performances."

Also at the bash were newlyweds Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller ("The honeymoon isn't over!" remarked one guest), a "lovey-dovey" Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan, who kissed and danced all night, and of course the host couple. "Jenny and Jim were adorable," says the guest, "She kept saying, 'I love you honey' to him when she thanked him from the stage." Carrey, not to be outdone by the DWTS folks, soon took to the dance floor, even challenging another guest to a playful dance-off.

Set Issues Derail Britney's Madonna Shoot

Spears had been scheduled to begin shooting a video montage for Madonna's upcoming tour this morning at the Lots soundstage in Hollywood. But production insiders say that because the set was not finished in time, cameras will not roll until tomorrow. The set features an elevator, in, around and on which Spears will dance.

"The video will be very deep," a source in the Spears camp tells E! News. "You've never seen Britney like this before. It will blow your mind." Madonna reached out to Britney to do the project, says the source. Troubled pop star Britney Spears could perform at this year's MTV Video Music Awards ceremony, despite being ridiculed after last year's wayward appearance. The singer was laughed at for her shambolic showing at 2007 ceremony, appearing dazed as she struggled to remember the lyrics and dance routine to Gimme More. However, bosses have not ruled her out as a potential performer at this year's bash in September. Britney Spears' former boyfriend Adnan Ghalib is understood to have received death threats from her fans over reports that he planned to sell a sex tape of the star. The Birmingham-born photographer is said to have taken a break from work and gone into hiding after revealing that he has been harassed by the singer's fans. Mr Ghalib also claimed that he was stabbed in the arm in April as irate fans vented their fury over his relationship with the 26-year-old singer.

The video is alleged to feature Spears performing a striptease while wearing a pink wig during a trip the couple took to Mexico. Rumours about the existence of the tape and - Ghalib's plan to sell it for use on the internet - first surfaced last month and, in an interview with Heat magazine, Ghalib commented on them. Pop singer Britney Spears' company has been slapped with a tax lien by the state of California for owing nearly $24,000 in back taxes.

The State of California Franchise Tax Board put a lien on her company, Britney On Line Inc., for being delinquent $23,589.17 in its 2004 tax payments, according to E! News and Access Hollywood.

Spears has also has been hit with a court order directing her to pay more than $400,000 to her attorneys. She has been fighting legal battles with her ex-husband Kevin Federline and her parents over child custody and control over her finances.

BRITNEY SPEARS and TARA REID's troubles are set to become the stuff of comedy in a new off-Broadway show.

Jenn Harris will play Spears and Sarah Saltzberg will star as actress Reid in the upcoming premiere of Girls Day, Or Britney and Tara Stare into the Void and the Void Stares Back.

The "tragi-comedy," which debuts on 11 May (08) at the Ace of Clubs theatre in New York, also features an actor portraying Spears' ex Kevin Federline.

The plot of the play revolves around a fictitious afternoon Spears and Reid spend together, a month after the pop star checks out of a rehabilitation clinic.

Reports that Britney Spears has struck a commercial endoresement deal with a US fitness chain are false, according to her father Jamie, who says "there's no deal" between the singer and any fitness or gym group.

Rumors of the popstar's endorsement for Bally Total Fitness, rumored to be part of her comeback plan, have circulated online.

Grey's Anatomy star Justin Chambers blames Britney Spears for shining the media spotlight on his private battle with exhaustion. The actor checked himself into UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles for a break just days before Spears was admitted into the same hospital in a media frenzy.

And Chambers insists only his family and close friends would have known about his health issues if the hospital hadn't become a hotspot for reporters and the paparazzi. In an unprecedented move by Baruch to boost the reputation of its information technology major, the college has announced that Britney Spears will teach a class in "Artificial Intelligence and Robotics" this fall.

Or rather, a robot that looks and talks exactly like Britney Spears. The project is funded by The Betty Ford Celebrity Rehab Center and Spears' recording label. By partnering with Baruch College, the program is a novel way to facilitate the star's problematic rehab. "I'm willing to try anything once … and I mean anything," the strung-out, bald-headed star was quoted as saying.

The idea is to provide Spears with a completely different image of her total potential. If Spears sees herself as a robot, teaching a complex class in artificial intelligence and interacting with students in a rational and logical way, it might remap her consciousness into acting like a normal human. "Think of it as a kind of visual shock therapy," said Quigley Persnoot, spokesperson for the Ford Center. "If this doesn't work," he said, "the next step is to implant microchips in her brain."

There is even some buzz around the potential for a robot reality show. Fox Network is watching this closely. Tentatively titled Robot Reality Rehab, the show would have celebrity robots Lindsay Lohan teaching rocket science, Nicole Ritchie instructing brain surgery and Eliot Spitzer with a class on the lasting impact of Puritan philosophy in American Society.

Students are generally enthusiastic and intrigued by having a celebrity instructor - even if she's plastic. Mala Roy, 19 and an IT major, wondered how the Spears robot would work. "I mean, are they going to, like, pull a really, really long string right before class?" she asked.

Not exactly. Marcel Duchamp, a Baruch IT student who worked on the initial Britney prototype (Britney Bot 1.0), described how he encoded a series of nano chips with lesson plans. Britney Bot is programmed to be spontaneous and answer class questions. Students are in no danger of being kidnapped. She will be able to take attendance by scanning the room and recording the imprint of students' irises. Birtney Bot will also be able to sense students' comprehension and keep a running grade total that is constantly monitored and updated. Points are deducted if you stare at her chest.

Kiwi makes happiness DVD for Spears

A New Zealand video producer believes a DVD he has made about happiness could help troubled pop star Britney Spears. Steve Hart has produced a 70 minute video featuring a cast of Kiwi doctors, motivational speakers and visionaries called Your Guide to True Happiness.

He is sending a copy to Britney Spears as he believes she must be one of the unhappiest people on the planet. Hart says the DVD talks of accepting one's circumstances, living for today, not dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.

He thinks Britney will enjoy watching it, and hopes it will help her change her life for the better.

Britney has the best 'bad skin'

Washington (ANI): Troubled singer Britney Spears has just been given a Lifetime Achievement award - for bad skin. Britney who is very prone to acne was given a Skinnies gong, which is presented every year by skincare expert Dr. Vail Reese on his Skinema.com website.

Dr. Vail has also suggested that Spears should seek the advice of fellow star Will Smith, who has been given this year's (08) Action-packed Acne Survivor, for the clear skin he sported in blockbuster ‘I Am Legend". He has even praised Smith for being able to find a cure for his adult acne.

Spears set for 'South Park'

Britney Spears is to appear on US TV comedy 'South Park'. The pop singer will join Marilyn Manson and Tom Cruise among the stars who have been parodied on the cult cartoon series, when her likeness appears in an episode which airs in America today.

In the episode, 'South Park' regulars Stan and Kyle take on a mission to get troubled Spears to the North Pole.

In a news release, a spokesman for the show says: "Britney Spears is trying to get away from it all in the mountains near South Park when the boys have a run-in with her.

"Stan and Kyle get caught up in Britney's celebrity and the never-ending feeding frenzy that follows her wherever she goes."

Silverstone Denies Quitting Show Because of Spears

Actress Alicia Silverstone is laughing off reports she pulled out of a role in the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" after learning she'd be appearing opposite Britney Spears.

Spears plays a receptionist/secretary in an upcoming episode of the show, and insiders claim her boss was supposed to be Silverstone.

But Silverstone's publicist Elizabeth Much insists the actress' links to the TV show ended long before Spears' name was even mentioned.

She explains, "Alicia was in discussions to do the show but the deal never went through. This happens all of the time in Hollywood. It had nothing to do with Britney."

Spears will play a secretary to actor Josh Radner's character Ted when the episode airs later this year.

Britney Spears Teaches Dance Students the 'Fish-Move'

LOS ANGELES — Britney Spears was back in the dance studio Tuesday night teaching a class of 15 kids ... and she was a hit.

"I like Britney,” 5-year-old Elissa Bouganim, who has taken three classes with the pop star, told People magazine. “Today, first we were dancing slow, and then faster and faster ... Then we did the fish-move and lots of other fun things."

Spears, 26, has become a semi-regular instructor at the Millennium Dance Complex in the past month. "It's just amazing to watch Britney with the kids," Elissa's mother, Pam, told People. "Elissa won't stop dancing now, that's all she wants to do. Britney has really inspired her."

Elissa even gave Spears a gift during Tuesday's class. "It was a picture of [Peter Pan's] Tinkerbell," she told People. "And she gave me a hug." Elissa also said she wants to dance with Britney "all the time."

Britney Spears denies pregnancy rumours

Troubled pop star Britney Spears has denied rumours that she is expecting a child with her boyfriend, British-born photographer Adnan Ghalib. Federline gives Britney Spears visiting rights

Sources close to the singer have been forced to comment on speculation that the 26-year-old was pregnant with her third child after reports said Ghalib had told friends in Britain that he was going to become a father.

"Britney has put on weight because the doctors have switched her prescription," a source was quoted in The Sun. The rumours first started in January when the couple were pictured at a pharmacy buying a home pregnancy test kit.

Spears's 16-year-old sister Jamie Lynn is currently expecting her first child with boyfriend Casey Aldridge. The pop star, who spiralled out of control following an acrimonious split with husband Kevin Federline, has recently been allowed to see her two sons for the first time in two months.

Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said that the former couple have agreed to modify the court order that stripped Spears of her visitation rights. In early January, the singer was taken from her home by paramedics following a stand-off with Federline.

Police were called after she refused to hand over the boys and she was briefly hospitalised. She has since lost all visitation rights.

Britney Spends Quiet Weekend with Father

Britney Spears marked a relatively quiet President's Day weekend, with her Saturday spent in the company of her father and her assistant Brett inside her Beverly Hills home. When his daughter did go out, Jamie Spears, who has been appointed a conservator in charge of Britney's well-being and her finances, accompanied her to dinner, with the two joining a small party at Citrus at Social Hollywood, on Sunset Boulevard.

Outside chef Michel Richards's new restaurant, a photographer asked the pop star, 26, how she was doing. "Good," she replied gently. At dinner, "she seemed totally normal and level-headed, and everyone with her seemed calm," said a customer in the restaurant. "She was with a table of five people." When she left, she exited through a side door, and took a coffee cup with her. The occasion was a stark contrast to exactly a year ago, when a frenzied Spears went into a San Fernando Valley salon and shaved off her hair.

Dressed for Dinner

On Saturday, she wore a long chocolate-brown jersey dress with spaghetti straps, accessorized with silver jewelry including drop earrings, a necklace and a watch. The previous day, the singer spent time inside some West Hollywood boutiques, where she browsed rather than bought.

The weekend also brought an invitation from her Beverly Hills neighbor, Heidi Klum – who said Spears could come live with her, husband Seal and their three children as a means to help get her life back on track.

Lawyer Questions Britney Spears Conservatorship; Asks Case Be Heard In Federal Court

A lawyer, claiming to represent Britney Spears filed papers in Los Angeles earlier today asking to take the case of her conservatorship to federal court. Jon Eardley, filed papers calling into question the legality of conservatorship of the pop singer, which was put into place on February 1.

Among his arguments are that “Spears has not received the benefit of a single hearing before the court; yet she has been stripped of her right to access counsel of her choosing and to meet with her counsel in a private meeting,” the filing read.The filing claims Spears cannot “associate freely with her friends,” “make or receive telephone calls,” “operate a motor vehicle,” must “be accompanied by security guards when in public,” and she has been “denied the right to her finances.” The paperwork goes on to claim “Ms. Spears may be the most public person who has ever lived.”

Eardley is asking the United States District Court to hear the case. Spears is currently unable to hire her own counsel due to the conservatorship and it was unclear at press time who retained the services of Eardley on Spears’ behalf.

Spears' father strengthens control over her affairs

LOS ANGELES, Feb 8 (Reuters) - The father of troubled singer Britney Spears has strengthened control over her affairs with an order to fire her business manager and a demand that he turn over her personal records, a court document showed on Friday. The document, which was posted on celebrity news Web site TMZ.com, said that Howard Grossman was notified of a court order granting Jamie Spears the right to fire him as the singer's business manager and require Grossman "turn over all documents, records, and assets relating to Britney Spears."

The move follows charges by Spear's mother Lynne in court documents made public earlier this week that the pop star's self-style manager, Sam Lufti, had drugged her to take control of her home, life and finances. Late last week the 26 year-old, who rose to stardom as a Disney child star and became a teenage pop singing sensation, was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital and placed under psychiatric evaluation. Her father was given temporary control over her affairs by a Los Angeles court. By Wednesday, Spears had left the UCLA Medical Center and one day later, Jamie Spears was back in court in a closed-door hearing to strengthen his conservatorship over her assets.

Spears' life has spun out of control since her divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline in 2006. She has spent time in rehab, been photographed in public wearing no underwear and exhibited bizarre behavior such as wearing pink wings and talking in a British accent despite being from Louisiana. She has battled Federline for custody of their two young sons, and in another public disclosure on Friday, Spears' current Los Angeles attorneys in that case, the firm Trope and Trope, have filed court papers asking to be dropped from the case, according to TMZ.com.
